In 1993 Industry Canada and the Pionniers du Téléphone joined forces to create the CFS program (Computers for Schools) in an effort to refurbish computers and other computer-related equipment donated by government and business. The refurbished computers were distributed across Canada to schools, libraries and non-profit organizations that encouraged learning. At that time, the Canadian National Centre (CNC) was the government body responsible for reconditioning and distributing the computers.
In 1998 the creation of Computers for Schools Quebec (CFSQ) influenced La Relance Outaouais to become involved in a similar project. In 2000 it took charge of the Canadian National Centre and renamed it Computers for Schools Technology Centre (CFSTC).
In 2009, CTOPE changed names once again. It became La Relance Technology Service (LTRS) and developed environmental and ecological management policies for all of its operations This environmental policy would complete LTRS’s mission: to become the first sustainable development business in the Ottawa-Gatineau region by combining human, environmental and economic aspects in our operations. Our organization is proud to respect the 3RVE principle: Reduce at the source, Reuse, Recyle, conVert and Eliminate. We always place high importance on the first three Rs, by encouraging the reduction of computer equipment, by repairing and refurbishing computer equipment, and by recycling what we cannot use.
