It’s the grand finale on “So You Think You Can Dance” and after nearly two hours of favorite and memorable performances SYTYCD would crown two winners – one girl and one guy. It would mark the first time the show would award the $100,000 prize to two dancers. he top 20 dancers returned and opened the show with a routine choreographed by Christopher Scott and Sonya Tayeh in what Nigel Lythgoe called, “the best routine ever to open the show.” Joining Nigel and Mary Murphy at the judging table this week were Lil C, Adam Shankman, Debbie Allen, and Tyce Diorio. During the show each judge in turn would choose one of their favorite dances from the season for an encore performance.
Nigel’s choice was the Travis Wall routine from Audrey and Matthew.
Adam chose the Paso Dobe from Lindsey and Cole – the dance Nigel said was the best Paso Doble they had ever seen from a guy on the show. Tyce Diorio chose the Tabatha and Napoleon “Love Cats” routine from Amelia, Will…and a dumpster Mary chose what she called the most powerful and meaningful routine, the Holocaust inspired Katherine and Chehon. Each of the four finalists also chose the one routine they wanted to perform again. First up was Eliana who chose her contemporary routine with All Star and fellow ballet dancer Alex Wong. Nigel revealed that Eliana was at the top of every judge’s top 20 list in Las Vegas. Host Cat Deely also chose her favorite dance and selected the disco routine with eleven lifts from Tiffany and All Star Brandon. Chehon chose his Argentine Tango with Anya for his dance. Hip-Hop stars Comfort and Twitch joined choreographer Christopher Scott and finalist Cyrus for an animated Hip-Hop card shark routine. Brian Gainer joined the group for the dance.
